I couldn't find any information on the RAM in the forum or the archives, so I'll post this separately so it can be found easily.

The P1120 uses Samsung k4s511632d 512Mbit SDRAM 8M x 16bit x 4 Banks Synchronous DRAM LVTTL chips (x4).

Upgrading this would be quite hard, even though the physical package isn't that hard work with, due to the high density, and small bit interface of the chip.

You'd need a 1Gbit chip with a 16bit interface from what I can tell, and the only non-DDR/DDR2 chip I could find (the Maxwell 72SD3232) has a 32-bit interface.

That's just the problems with the RAM inteself. Chipsets of this period typically don't support more than 512Mbit density chips. The BIOS may need to be modified to get 1Gbit chips to work, even if the chipset happens to support that high of density.

If you want to take a look at the chip yourself, one is easily viewable if you remove the keyboard. Unscrew the screw surrounded by the large anti-slip pad (on the left with ports facing rear, the leftmost closest to ports that is sunk in if you don't have the pads). Flip the laptop over, fold the LCD all the way back. Now you can just snap the plastic above the keyboard off, the keyboard lifts to the rear and up.
